Latin
As the title of this blog reveals, and posts confirm, I will be using a slight amount of Latin on my site. Latin is the official language of the Church and has been for centuries. For this reason I thought it appropriate to use some Latin on the blog.
In order to help the reader better understand these instances, below are a few translations of words or phrases I may use or have used.
Ut Unum Sint - “That all may be one” - Pope John Paul II’s encyclical letter calling for Christian unity
Corporis - “of the body” - name given to category dealing with issues particularly inside the Church
…ora pro nobis - “…pray for us” - prayer for intercession, usually following a saint (i.e. Sancta Maria, ora pro nobis, or, Holy Mary, pray for us). Note: there is a patron saint for nearly everything, from archers to waitresses - List of Patron Saints.
Humanae Vitae - “On Human Life,” or “On the Regulation of Human Birth”
I will continue to post more entries as needed.
~Sancto Francisco Salesio, ora pro nobis~
