For this image, I wanted to tell a story but still advertise and have the main focus on the lipstick. This is a high key photo, which means that most of the colors in the photo are white or light toned. This story says: a woman just finished drinking her coffee and needs to reapply her lipstick because she lost some of it on the coffee cup.

I wanted the only color to be the pink lipstick so that it would stand out in the photograph. I also put lip marks on the rim of the cup so that the pink would tie in with the tube of lipstick. Yes, those are my lips on the coffee cup. The lighting was very simple with just a large softbox and a few reflectors. I put a lot of thought into this photograph and in the end I achieved exactly what I had visioned in my head.
