The White Stripes only consist of two members, Jack White (vocals/guitar) and Meg White (drums), and that’s all the band needs to make it in the crazy music industry. The band formed in 1997 and has been rocking out ever since. With their debut self-titled album, the band has a variety of rock and blues tone that fans can’t get enough of. Their fame only continued to get greater with their second record release, White Blood Cells, in 2001. The band made a career-boosting appearance on The Late Night Show with David Letterman that proved to the world the White Stripes were making it big time. The band’s success continued to prosper putting on a great show at the MTV Music Awards. In 2005, the White Stripes released their latest album, Get Behind Me Satan. Currently the band is on tour and has released a few singles off their record since then.

Jennifer Lopez is another stellar woman who has come a long way to prove herself. She has proven herself to be a singer/actress with no fear and a whole bunch of strength. She first embraced the public on the hit TV show In Living Color as a “Fly Girl.” Jennifer Lopez’s fame first rose in 1997, when she landed the lead role in the movie Selena. She would star in many more roles to come.

In the summer of 1997, she graced the musical community with her debut album, On the 6, which held her addicting single “If You Had My Love.” In 2001, she released another album called J.Lo. Of this record, “Jenny From the Block” hit the charts with great assurance to succeed. Her latest record, 2005’s Rebirth, has proven to be a success as well. Jennifer Lopez overcame the odds with starting off as a back-up dancer for a television show to rise to great heights and reach super stardom.

Blink 182 Rocks My Socks Off!

Blink 182 is one of my favorite bands for a million reasons! They first self-released their EP, Fly Swatter, to later release their first album, Buddha, in 1994. The band really started to get noticed with their debut album, Dude Ranch, in 1997. “What’s My Age Again,” “All of the Small Things,” “Adam’s Song,” and “Dammit” were hit singles released off the album. Blink 182’s album Enema of the State sold over four million copies, putting the band on top of every chart known to man.

When it didn’t seem like the band could do any better, in February of 2005, the group retired for a while to spend more time with their families.

One of My Favorite Bands: Jimmy Eat World

Jimmy Eat World first hit the music scene in the mid-’90s and haven’t left the music industry yet. The band formed in 1994, consisting of Jim Adkins (vocals/guitar) and Zach Lind (drums), who are childhood friends, Tom Linton (vocals/guitar) and Mitch Porter (bass). Throughout the ’90s Jimmy Eat World released numerous singles that hit the top of the charts. In 1998, the band came out with their second album, Clarity, which did very well worldwide. Upon MTV and VH1 mentioning the band, their success rose to outstanding heights. Jimmy Eat World’s album Bleed American, had title changed to Jimmy Eat World after the tragic events of September 11th would end up selling 1.3 million copies in the United States. The band’s latest album release, Stay on My Side Tonight, hit stores in 2005.

A True Fighter: Paula Abdul

Paula Abdul was made huge around the same time Madonna was on top of the world. Paula Abdul was a former L.A. Lakers cheerleader who had the moves of a gleaming star. In 1988, she released her first album, Forever Your Girl, which held her smash hit “Straight Up.” With the huge success of “Straight Up,” Abdul released 6 more singles that really sky-rocketed her career.

Her career would be put on a hold for a short while when Abdul checked herself into a rehab center with an eating disorder. In 2002, Paula Abdul agreed to be a judge on the hit TV show, American Idol, which put her success and fame back on track. Paula Abdul overcame a serious illness just to prove to herself and her fans she can battle anything that is sent her way.

Winner of Fox TV’s 1st American Idol: Kelly Clarkson

It all started with the hit TV show American Idol: The Search for a Superstar competition, which in 2002, turned Kelly Clarkson from a music industry no one to a huge pop star success. A 20-year-old Texas born girl showed American Idol viewers just how it was done. In winning the number one spot on American Idol, Kelly received a $1 million recording contract with RCA. Her album was named Thankful and was released in the summer of 2003. Kelly would later star in her own movie and make several TV guest appearances on hit shows. Kelly Clarkson is great inspiration for any artist who are struggling and don’t think miracles exist, because they truly do.

Madonna Rules the World

Madonna first ruled the world in 1984 with her music, sexuality, and openness of her life style. She has said to be the first female pop star to have complete control over her music and image. It seemed everything Madonna touched turned to gold, and that is definitely not excluding her music. With every new song written, a new success was created, climbing to the top of every chart made throughout the entire world. During the ’80s, majority of Madonna’s songs of her self-titled album were huge hits at all the clubs. Her second record, Like a Virgin, transformed Madonna into an international music goddess, selling millions of copies.

With each decade that approaches, Madonna manages to create new images of her that fit each year perfectly. When the ’90s hit Madonna transformed her and made nothing but success. Confessions on a Dance Floor is Madonna’s latest album that came out in 2005. There isn’t anything in the world that can bring this super star down. Madonna will remain and continue to rise to the top of music history as one of the very best female artist to ever walk this earth.

Beyonce

Beyonce gives millions of women all over America pride in being “curvy.” She is not ashamed of her curves and embraces them with every breath she takes and every shake she makes. Beyonce was first a part of Destiny’s Child who sold over 33 million records worldwide by 2002. Destiny’s Child was quite the sensation winning numerous Grammies for their hit songs. In 2001, the group split allowing Beyonce to start a career on her own, hoping to succeed.

And succeeding is just what Beyonce did! Beyonce became the first African-American female artist and second woman ever to win the ASCAP Pop Songwriter of the Year Award. Beyonce overcame many obstacles throughout her life to rise to the very top. She is an inspiration to women and men of all ages and races.

Green Day

Green Day has been around as long as I can remember. Green Day has been said to have had the second, Pearl Jam is number one, influence on the musical society at one time. They were punk rebels who added an addicting alternative twist to music. Their lyrics had meaning and were sung by every punk-rocker and nonpunk-rocker in the early 90s. In 1994, their album Dookie, sold over eight million records, resulting in sudden success. Green Day’s song “Longview” aired on MTV and became a major hit. “Basket Case” remained on the top of the American modern rock charts for five straight weeks. The sales of Dookie sky-rocketed when Green Day won the crowd over at Woodstock ‘94. “When I Come Around” rose to number one on the modern rock charts in 1995. Dookie won the boys a Grammy for Best Alternative Music Performance.

In 2004, Green Day released American Idiot, which voiced many feelings the band held towards society and the government. Many of the lyrics are debatable, but the band has a lot of strength to voice such opinions in their songs about such issues.

Angry Artist: PINK

Pink first appeared in the late 1990s and seemed to be just another pop-princess; Pink’s true colors would later come out and shock the world. At the mere age of 14, Pink began writing her own songs, influenced by her musical family. She was scouted by an executive for MCA and jumped into an R&B group called Basic Instinct. In 2002, Pink released a double-platinum album, which held three of her Top Ten singles: “There U Go,” “Most Girls,” and “You Make Me Sick.”

She later began touring with N*Sync and found herself to be sick and bored of the teen-pop culture. Pink wanted her music to have more meaning and relate to fans older than children and young teenagers. Toward the end of 2002, Pink released yet another hit “Get the Party Started,” which became her most successful song yet, reaching at the Top Five list. Her second album M!sunderstood also became a double-platinum record.

Her latest album I’m Not Dead, debuted its first single “Stupid Girls,” with much promise of becoming a number one success.
