One of the HUGEST combacks in history!
Mariah Carey was on top of the world in the 1990s. She had a fabulous five-octagon voice that no one, in pop culture, had. After signing with Columbia in 1990, Mariah Carey was able to get out four number one singles: “Vision of Love,” “Love Takes Time,” “Someday,” and “I Don’t Want to Cry.” Her success seemed to rise over night, earning her two Grammy awards as Best New Artist and Best Woman Vocalist.
In 1993, two more singles hit the tops of the charts: “Dreamlover” and “Hero.” In the 1990s, success would follow her for many years to come with many more debut albums and hit singles.
Unfortunately, the 2000s didn’t treat this dive-queen with such greatness. She signed an 80 million dollar record deal with Virgin, signing the biggest record contract ever, only to lose sight of her self and have an emotional and physical breakdown. Her movie Glitter didn’t help her self-esteem any, with critics handing out horrible reviews. In 2002, Virgin gave up on Mariah Carey and paid her 28 million dollars to end their contract.
It took her three years and a lot of strength to release her latest, hit album The Emancipation of Mimi, her most successful record in years.
