Fair to Midland
Thursday, April 20th, 2006Yes, another Dallas band (can you tell where my allegance lies) but they will be known nation wide soon. The lead singer of System of a Down even got wind of them and was so impressed that he signed them to his own label->
!!! He is now shoping them around to various labels and rumor has it the they will soon have a two record deal with Universal Records (most artists only get 1)! But you didn’t hear it from me
This amazingly talented band can’t really be put into a single category. Have you ever heard of Mars Volta? Well think of them along those lines if you have. If you haven’t, and if that’s the case you need to check them out asap, then think of FTM as rock meets metal meets irish folk on crack. This description may make you turn the other way and run but don’t. Words cannot do this band justice, you simply must hear them. If at all possible see them live (which you can do Saturday at the Hive in Tulsa). Andrew, the singer, has a way of turning the stage into a dramatic play. Its like watching the opera where the lead character is being thrown across stage and getting the life beat out of him. Seem a tad bit dramatic? Maybe, but it makes their performance that much more enrapturing. It is impossible to take your eyes off of them from begining to end, regardless if you love or hate their music.
They are also one of those bands where hearing their cd without seeing them live won’t hit you nearly as hard as after you have experienced their show. And it really is an experience.
Fun Fact: This modest group of boys don’t think that they are all that great, and named themselves as such. Hence the title Fair to Midland which means only average. Yeah right, this band is anything but average!
