Things I miss about Sweden

You know the feeling you get when you’re far away from home… When even the smallest thing, as long as it has something to do with your country, awakes all these feelings inside of you. Even though I’m not that homesick yet, there are a lot of things that I miss about Sweden.

  • Not beeing alone
Waking up a Sunday morning, realizing that I hasn’t got anything planned for the day. I can do that here as well, but it wouldn’t be near as fun. Because you see, the best part about waking up in Sweden, any day, is actually that I don’t have to wake up alone.
  • The cooking
I miss selecting a recipe from a cook book, go to the store to buy the groceries and then cook my own food. And I miss the food my mother and my boyfriend’s mother cook. How about an old-fashioned steak with boiled potatoes?
  • The Swedish transportation system
I’m planning a trip, but I have absolutely no idea how I should get to the airport and back. Taking a taxi is expensive! I miss the shuttles we have back home, were a trip to the airport costs 10 dollars…
  • The company during holidays
It’s just not the same celebrating holidays without my family and friends. And the food! How am I going to survive easter without eggs?
