3/1 Episode of One Tree Hill

Last wednesday on the WB’s One Tree Hill, a normal school day turns chaotic when a teenage boy brings a gun to school. At the beginning of the day he opens fire in the hall and students scatter everywhere. Some of the students get locked inside the same room with the gunman including Lucas, Mouth, and Haley. Lucas and Nathan go back into the school to try to help their friends and Nathan searches for Haley. Lucas finds Peyton in the library crying, and she claims she fell on some glass.

In the room where the students are stuck with the gunman, they have no idea he has done the shooting. Soon they figure out it was him and he tells him how horrible his home life and highschool has been for him. Soon after they all convince him to let a diabetic girl leave the room to go get medication. They try to persuade him that he can put an end to the shooting and that he won’t get in trouble if he stops now but he doesn’t believe them.

Meanwhile, Peyton is losing a lot of blood and Lucas finds out that it is not glass but instead it was a bullet that injured her. Outside the school officials and Scott (Lucas and Nathan’s father) discuss how to handle the situation. Karen is frantic and Keith tries to calm her down and says he will go in and find Lucas. While Lucas is carrying Peyton out the gunman hears them and comes out into the hall and says he is going to kill them. At that exact moment Keith comes in and talks the teen boy into letting them leave. Then at the very end the teen boy shoots himself in the head. Keith stands there astonished and then his brother Scott walks in. Scott picks up the gun and shoots his brother to end the show.

This topic for this episode of One Tree Hill is different than the usual issues shown on the WB. I have to say that I think watching a school shooting was dramatic and does almost force you to think about that situation and what it would be like. But I don’t really agree with ending because I don’t think Scott should’ve shot Keith.
