Young Frankenstein
Mel Brooks is one of my favorite directors. I have two favorite movies of his. I have already written about Robin Hood: Men in tights. Now, I would like to write about my other favorite, the 1974 Young Frankenstein. This movie is a spoof of the Mary Shelly novel, “Frankenstein”.
Gene Wilder plays Dr. Frederick Frankenstein the grandson of the Dr. Victor von Frankenstein that created a monster. Frederick makes every effort to disassociate himself from his grandfather, the mad scientist. He even mispronounces his name to save himself from the humiliation of being related to his grandfather. Dr. Fredrick inherits his grandfather’s castle where he finds the Victor’s research. Frederick soon becomes obsessed with creating another monster. Peter Boyle from “Everybody Loves Raymond”, plays Dr. Frankenstein’s monster in this movie.
This is a classic comedy. I highly recommend this movie to everyone. Mel Brooks cast the perfecti actors in this movie. Have fun watching.
