V for Vendetta

tickets.JPGA few weeks ago I watched V for Vendetta. This movie is based on a British comic book printed between 1982 and 1985. There were ten issues of the comic written that were later collected as a graphic novel. The movie and comic book are based in a futuristic Britain. There are some differences between the two. For instance, Natalie Portman’s Character, Evey, is a twenty something girl who befriends V the vigilante. In the comic Evey is sixteen and an admirer of V. This is an interesting comic book to have been made into a film.

Logan’s Run, The Island, Logan’s Run

film.JPGIn 1976 Michael York starred as Logan in the science fiction classic, Logan’s Run. The movie is based on a novel by William F. Nolan and George Clayton Johnson. The story starts with Logan living in a sort of underground city. Logan, a sandman, has the job to kill anyone who runs from the rebirthing. The rebirthing ceremony is a way to keep the population of the city down. When a person in the city turns the age of 30 they are terminated. Logan receives the assignment of finding the “Sanctuary” in which the runners are fleeing too. This is outside of the utopian city in which Logan lives. Logan must fight against other sandmen to escape from city and find the “Sanctuary.”
