Action 2005

This was probably the toughest category to pick. I have put many hours of play into all of these titles and went with an upset for this category.

Best Action Game of 2005:

Fable: The Lost Chapters - This title could have fallen into the RPG category but since it is not turn based fighting and is somewhat linear, it goes into action. This game blew my mind. Excellent soundtrack keeps the mood strong. Nice plush environments and gripping storyline. Deep character development and customization also round out this strong title that came out of nowhere for me. (9.4/10)

Runners-Up:

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (9.0/10), Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (8.6/10), Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones (8.9/10)

Worst Action Game of 2005:

Fantastic 4 - I thought this title might be somewhat cool but the super powers were not implemented and did not play out like I thought they should. Lack of fighting moves makes this game very repetitive and the mechanics and gameplay is unorginal and outdated. (4.0/10)

Runner-Up:

The Matrix: Path of Neo (5.0/10)

Best Action Game of 2005 Nobody Played:

Ultimate Spider-Man - This cel-shaded version of the web-crawler’s latest adventure proved to be very entertaining. The ability to play as Venom throughout the game was also enticing. Web-slinging never looked so stylish and has never been more fun. The encounters between Venom and Spider-Man throughout the game are most enjoyable. (8.5/10)
