Paradise
Adventure gamers are a stalwart group. They take the crap that comes out year after year and not only don’t complain, but continue to buy and “enjoy” it. I suppose that’s why it’s always nice to be able to give these gamers good news every now and again. While this isn’t going to be a watershed year for adventure gaming, there are some good titles on the horizon, one of which is Paradise.
Paradise begins and stays on the continent of Africa. A young woman awakens to find she has crashed in the desert only to be saved by an Arabian prince. She sets out on a journey to discover her identity and why the Arabian prince wants her to escort a black leopard to her home.
Paradise will be a very story driven experience with plenty of traditional point and click adventure gameplay. The main character Anne Smith will be controlled by clicking on the ground in the environment while interaction with the environment is also only a click away. Simply dragging the mouse over any part of the environment that can be used will change the icon to something new.
As with most adventure games out on the market, environment and character are a major force in gameplay. Point and click adventures in particular are very puzzle centric, meaning there needs to be a great deal of interaction in an interesting way that’s also integrated into the storyline. For instance, one puzzle brings Anne to a dark corner of the palace she’s in with a set of keys to progress through the gate ahead, but it’s too dark to see. Before she can move on, she’ll need to find equipment to light a lamp by the gate in order to see where to use the keys.
One of the most interesting aspects of the game is its departure from the point and click norm when it comes to the black leopard Anne is charged with escorting home. When Anne goes to sleep, players will find themselves in control of the leopard in a real-time 3D environment.
Look for the beautiful looking Paradise on the PC April 25th.
