Lasagna

One of my favorite things to eat and to make is Lasagna. It is really simple and I always get lots of complments on it. Here’s how I make it

Ingredients:

1lb ground beef, sausage or ground turkey (which ever you prefer)

1 pkg of Lasagna (don’t get the precooked kind, it is terrible, try to make sure they are not broken when you buy them)

32 oz jar of spaghetti sauce (I prefer Ragu with mushrooms)

1 egg

12 or 16 oz Ricotta cheese

2 to 4oz Parmesan cheese

32 oz bag of Mozzarella cheese

Preparation:

Boil about 4 quarts of water for the lasagna, add lasagna and return to a boil. Cook uncovered about 10 minutes or until tender, stir occasionally to keep from sticking to the bottom of the pan. You’ll need 9 slices of lasagna but cook a few extra incase a few break. Drain, and pour cool water over cooked lasagna so you don’t burn yourself when you are putting all the ingredients together.

Brown meat, then strain. Add about ¾ of the jar of spaghetti to cooked meat and stir together.

Preheat oven to 425 degrees

Mix ricotta cheese and egg in a small bowl.

Mix parmesan cheese and mozzarella cheese in a separate bowl.

Put half of the spaghetti sauce that was left in the jar on bottom of a 13×9 glass pan. Then put 3 lasagna slices down, then a layer of the ricotta cheese mixture (about half the mixture), then a layer of meat and sauce (about half the mixture), then a layer of the mozzarella and parmesan cheese mix (about 1/3 of the mixture), repeat once. Then put 3 more lasagna slices on top of the second layer, the rest of the spaghetti sauce then top it off with the rest of the mozzarella and parmesan cheese mix.

Cook uncovered for 30-45 minutes or until cheese is melted and the top is golden brown.

I recommend serving it with a nice salad, green beans and Italian bread
