And so I go

Tuesday, November 28th, 2006

6_elliot.jpgWith graduation this semester for me, I leave you with a poem I wrote about endings and new beginnings:

And so I go

Left with nothing more to do

But become that which I was to become

You may be there

You may be done

You may have just started

But when it’s all done

Remember to have fun

Be grateful for each day, for those you know, for those you love

And if you’re lucky

In return God will bless you

And so I go

President Bush: our new king

Wednesday, November 22nd, 2006

bush_halo3.jpgHands down, President Bush is the greatest president in the history of the United States. Immediately, critics argue he is the worst. Where is their foresight? The problem remains they have yet to read the history books of tomorrow, which state George W. Bush is the new forefather of this nation’s new american century. Published this summer on facebook.com were my recommendations for Bush to follow through on by the end of the year. Let’s see how he did.

‘Kramer’ stirs racial tensions nationwide

Tuesday, November 21st, 2006

kramer-laugh.jpg

The former co-star of Seinfeld went off on a few black people in the audience this past week. Richards made an apology on Late Night with David Letterman to salvage his reputation among the drive-by media. Comedian Sinbad responded on CNN to say he doesn’t accept the apology. The owner of the Laugh Factory, where Richards unleashed his offensive speech, said Richards was scheduled to apologize the next night, but the apology did not come and now he is banned from performing at the Laugh Factory until the African American community approves. Read the O’Colly article I wrote here.

What goes around the Akers

Thursday, November 2nd, 2006

akers021.jpgSome of you might wonder what happened to Justin Akers, the infamous Republican, neo-conservative writer with a knack for upsetting readers of The Daily O’Collegian. He quit the paper on Oct. 13 after the opinion editors refused to publish a column without him improving its content – requesting he add facts to his claims rather than “pulling it out of your ass,” the opinion editor wrote. She echoed the demand to all columnists in an e-mail, not singling Akers out. But Akers quit and drunkenly forwarded his response to the staff, rather than the editor only.
Akers: editor in chief a “spine-less coward”
The O’Colly’s editor in chief is a “spine-less coward,” he wrote, and the paper censored his writing based on the complaints of readers in their letters to the editor. He apologizes in another e-mail, blaming the incident on drinking, but stood by his call to quit.On Nov. 1, I post his statements on his weblog. Within hours, he removes the posts. Is Akers censoring?By the grace of G-mail, Akers’ infamous “drunken” e-mails are available for the world on this site. To be fair, they are uncensored. You should be rolling on the floor laughing by the end.

Eddie Sutton - another drunk hero

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006

eddie_sutton_beer_face1.jpgOnce upon a time, I got drunk beyond oblivion, took some prescription pills and drove recklessly at high speeds. I was lucky I didn’t kill anyone. Should I be in jail?

This is a question Eddie Sutton might be tossing around after foolishly getting behind the wheel when clearly he couldn’t drive. Eddie didn’t go to jail, even though he should have. Instead, we feel sorry for him and wish him the best.

Regardless the sentiments, why is he the exception to the rule?

When informing, meaning is key

Tuesday, October 17th, 2006

pdem034002.jpgWords can and often speak louder than pictures and video, but the description and meaning must be perfected. Visually-
stimulating expressions are powerful, but they do not hold the philosophical explanations to life’s mysteries only words can express.

Site proposal for Brent Battle

Thursday, September 7th, 2006

This site is about Brent Battle. You never would’ve guessed this self-absorbed, self-loathing victim of circumstance would bypass the opportunity to post 30 entries about football, or cheese, or celebrities, or any other topic that is far more important than his measely 22+ years of existence.Born in the plains of Oklahoma (post-Dust Bowl era), Brent Battle grew up in white suburbia along with his white family. In his white neighborhood, he attended a white school, a white church and made friends with white kids. He ate white bread, wore white t-shirts and prayed to a white Jesus. Fun, fun, fun.

Although he spent most of his adolescent years questioning authority (paternal and spiritual), he removed the black paint from his third eye in 2004. From there, he made it his goal to alleviate the tainted collective conscious of man hellbent on putting the $ above all that is sacred.

This Web site is dedicated to chronicling the obstacles Battle faces from the past to the road that lays ahead.

Enjoy. (insert smiley face emoticon.)
