Meet Will Shelton

October 17th, 2006

Picture of Will
Will Shelton was eager to have me interview him because he thought he had an interesting life. Here is a little bit about Will.

The first part of this semester, Will rode in the front seat of a truck while the driver, and many others, took a kid in the back of the truck through a car wash. He believes in ghosts. Will is related to Mary Todd Lincoln (Abraham Lincoln’s wife). He found out the relation through his great grandparents and their last name just so happened to be Todd as well.

He believes that he has bad luck because he got a DUI while driving sober at the wrong place at the wrong time. He was under 21 and because of the under age drinking there are different drinking limits. Will has an ace tattoo on his forearm, so people call him “ace”.

A neat fact is that he lives within a 1/2 mile from the worlds largest McDonalds. One year in high school, he went to Europe and bought his first beer ever in Spain out of a vending machine. And finally, his favorite food is pecan pie because his grandma makes pie for him every year.

Meet Jake Sims

October 17th, 2006

Picture of Jake
Jake Sims believes that he has been accident-prone since his second year of college. Ever since then, he broke his hand, wrist, femur, and every finger on his hand. He has ripped his ear off wrestling and needed plastic surgery.

Jakes loves food and says he’s infatuated with it; especially with milk. One weird think about Jake is that he wants to go into the dairy industry when he graduates but he IS lack toast intolerant. He never sleeps and claims that he has strange cases of insomnia. Jake consistently gets only 4 hours of sleep a night.

Jake is a descendant of the Vikings and 1/4 Norwegian. He’s talking to Troy Ackman but claims, “he’s a dick”. Troy wouldn’t sign a football because his card value would go down. Jake has been to Cancun Mexico and has always wanted to go to Norway. His first kiss was to Cami Rehlin, but it was a forced kiss by his neighbor Julie Dunn. And finally, he is currently drying out a giant gourd (squash), just because it is shaped like a “J”.

Meet Lance Limbrick

Picture of Lance
I met Lance out at the intermural fields before his football game. He took time out of his warm up to chat with me. Here are some unique life stories about Lance….

  • His nickname is Boogie, because he likes to dance. As he puts it, “shake my laughy taffy”.
  • He likes to make people laugh.
  • In 7th grade, he was de-pants in
  • He has one sister, two 1/2 brothers, and one 1/2 sister
  • He is originally from Houston Texas
  • When he was 3 or 4 years old, he rolled his tricycle down 15-20 stairs. His mom thought he was really hurt, but Lance repeated to do this and thought it was fun.
  • When he was in 8th grade, he attended Michael Jordan camp. He got to take a picture with him along with the other kids getting the change to as well. Lance remembers one kid in particular who was a little over weight. The little boy was ashamed to take a picture with Michael and tried to suck in his stomach. He said, “I’m too fat to take a picture with you.” Micheal replied with, “Suck it in, you’ve had to many ball park franks.”
  • When he was younger, he was fixing his bike with a friend when he challenged him to a race. He thought he was done putting together his bike when he twisted the lug nuts in the wrong direction. He got on his bike ready to go, and was ready to win. They both started to take off when Lance flipped over his handlebars. Needless to say, I think he lost.

Meet Whitney Warren

September 28th, 2006

Picture of Whitney
Meet Whitney Warren. I asked Whitney to tell me some things about herself that no one would know about her if they just walked up to her. She was very helpful and eager to share many stores about her life. This is a little about Whitney Warren…

  • She didn’t have cable TV until she was in high school. Occasionally she got channels 8 and 6 but that’s only when she held the antenna.
  • Whitney was in the 5th grade when she got her first kiss. She didn’t want to do it but her friend dared her to. When the big moment came, she almost threw up. Whitney was so afraid to kiss a boy. A week later she didn’t want to go to her best friend’s birthday party because she knew they were going to play a kissing type game (called pass the toothpick from your teeth) that she decided not to go. She was young and confused, so much so that she thought she was a lesbian for a while.
  • Her current boyfriend is a watermelon and cattle farmer.
  • In 8th grade, she was on a basketball team and was telling her team a story about a cable TV show she watched. She didn’t have cable so she had to watch it at her grandma’s house when she wasn’t around. The team was 30 minutes late changing from chatting in the locker room and their mail coach was getting frustrated. The show she watched was about sex and food. Whitney was getting to the good part of the story and loudly telling it so everyone could hear it. “So He dips it into chocolate…and then sprinkles…and the girl…” Right then the coach walks in and says, “Dips what into chocolate and sprinkles???” and she quickly replied “A BANANA” so her nickname was Sprinkles.

Meet Missy VanPool

Picture of Missy
Missy was my first person to interview for my web site. She is a fun spirited girl who made it easy to interview my first volunteer.

Missy was born in Jefferson City Missouri. She has 2 older sisters and one 1/2 brother. Her dad was married before her mom.

When I asked Missy to give me a list of unique things about her life that no one would know, this is what she told me.

*She went to high school and grade school on a hill where civil battles were fought. It was called Trinity Lutheran School.

*One day when she was in 3rd grade, the intercom came on. She heard people giggling and later found out it
was her principal and music teacher having an affair.

*In 1st grade, she used to love watching Family Matters. Before class started she got up in front of all her classmates and did a Steve Urcle impression and got in trouble by the teacher.

*When she was 5 years old she went to Tiawanna on vacation. Her favorite place to visit was the Hard Rock Cafe and wasn’t allowed to drink the water.

*When she was 19, she was in California on vacation with her family when she thought she’d take a swim in the ocean. She ended up having to be rescued by a life guard because the undertow was too strong.

What’s my site about???

September 7th, 2006

While watching Oprah a couple of years ago, she had a segment talking about how everyone has a unique story about themselves. She had a blown up map of the seating chart of her audience and threw a dart to pick which audience member she would do a piece on. She ended up picking a man who once lived in Nigeria and moved to the United States as a child. It ended up being a 10-minute clip about different events and interesting things about this man’s life. So, My Web site is inspired by Oprah Winfrey herself.

My Web site is going to be about different students that are on the OSU campus. I will be walking around campus and randomly introducing myself to students I have not yet met. I will ask them to tell me something interesting about themselves and their life, and then posting it on this site along with their picture. My purpose of making this site is to make people more aware of the people around them and to understand that other people go through struggles and triumphs just like themselves. This Web site is being made because I believe everyone has a story…
