This is for you Main Street Body Piercer Guy!!!!

Sunday, November 12th, 2006

The guy at Main Street Body Piercing did my nose ring. He did a great job at that.
On his shop “Fuck Bush…..” and “Legalize Tattooing” are printed. I wanted to take a picture of it for all viewers of my site to see, however, I am way too scared to piss that guy off! He got one wish…..Tattooing was officially legal in Oklahoma at the start of November. I don’t know what to do about the Bush situation, but hey I’m not a genie. This rendition of Bloody Sunday is the best I can do.

This is for you Main Street Body Piercer Guy! Take it away George!

History of Tattooing

Sunday, November 12th, 2006

In my links I have a great site posted that provides histories an gallerys that relate to tattoos. The categories include tattoos of the ancient world, Inuit tattoos, American, Asian, Polynesian, African and European tattoo traditions.

A fun fact from this site: In 1992, at the very border of Austria and Italy, high up in the Alp Mountains, the body of a man was found, and as they realized that he was more than 5000 years old, they realized they had found a sensation. He had been under ice for all those years, so his body, clothes and equipment was extraordinarily well preserved.

He was tattooed! In all 58 tattoos has been counted on his body. His tattoos were only simple dots and little lines.

That he was tattooed, was of course not a coincidence. It was probably totally normal for people at his time to be tattooed.
Since the tattoos does not represent anything - like animals and the like, speculation has been made as to their meaning. The truth will never be found, but theories and speculations will be made! ismand1.jpg

Christian Tattoos

Sunday, November 12th, 2006

You and I both know that there is a somewhat judgemental stigma surrounding the medium of tattoo art. If you watch the documentary film posted in the appropriate link to the left, you will notice a comment that this negative viewpoint arises from our western religious viewpoint; Christianity.

Is this stigma restricted to non-Christian tattoos, or are “Praying Hands” or “Cruxifixes” included.

At first glance when you see a Christian tattoo, do you pass judgement on the person (similiar to someone covered in non-Christian tattoos), or do you see it as a deep expression of faith in something? Are non-Christian tattoos the same thing, or are they different in your eyes?

The video posted adds some lightheartedness to the age old conrtoversy of man mingling with the divine. By the way……does he look drunk to you in this vid?

Disappointment found me at College Ink

Saturday, November 11th, 2006

Hello ladies and gents,

I, linsey Hamilton, went to college ink to pick a tattoo and get it done. I learned a valuable lesson: you can never take too much time to think over and pick something that will be on your body forever.

At College Ink I went in to see a selection of tribal tattoos. An “artist” said that he would make a design for me. I returned a few days later, and the design that he had came off of his computer, and it was a very generic design. He printed of one of the few that I liked, and then he edited it very moderatley by hand.

To all of you who want a tattoo, get an ARTIST. Get someone who can freehand their art or do fairly original works by hand. This insures that the work is original and unique for you, the paying customer.

Dont ever get a tattoo under pressure. It will be there for life, so choose wisely.
