Cutting it close, I know! That’s what happens when you’re gone for the final week and a half before a project is due. But don’t lie, y’all wouldn’t have passed up the opportunity to go to Ireland and Germany either!
So sad that this has to end when I feel like I am just getting the hang of it! Needless to say, I hope this was not an exercise in self-importance and that at least one other person got something out of my site. I’m not going to lie, though…I, like every other person in here, am so ready for the semester to be over it’s not even funny!
Bottom line: Music’s freakin’ awesome. Support local bands. And go get a tattoo!
I will leave you with three videos… two are music videos from local/regional bands and one is a video of someone getting a tattoo(see below and above)…
This is a video of a girl getting a tattoo on her inner lip. Crazy! Yet awesome. I don’t know if I’d want any sort of tattoo from a guy who looks like he can’t even handle a razor for his facial hair, though.
This is a music video for Tulsa band Failsafe’s single “Return to Lust.” It was filmed at The Hive in Tulsa and directed by Brad Albright.
Good way to make money or foolish way to use one’s body? Thousands of people are willing to put their bodies up for sale and hundreds of businesses are utilizing them to promote their companies in the latest fusion of body art and business - Tattoo Advertising! Basically what it entails is businesses and marketing firms paying willing participants to get a company’s logo and contact information branded on their bodies…permanently.

A week or two ago I stopped by the little gas station on the east side of Perkins that’s just before the car wash, Buffalo Wild Wings and the movie theater. You know the one, right past Christie’s Toy Box and the liquor store. It’s sort of on the corner of a mini-mall-type setup, and when I came out I noticed there was a label on the awning above one of the spaces on the north side that said “Tattoo Shop.” Naturally, I was curious, so I tried to get a closer look without peering inside through the window like a psycho, but I was unable to see anything, and there weren’t any labels on the door to give an indication of hours or whether the shop was even open. Does Stillwater have a third tattoo shop, or is it still in the works? I don’t know about you, but my curiosity is piqued…..
Stillwater Scene is, in my opinion, Stillwater’s best publication for local event info. It’s definitely lacking in news value and quality, but within the pages of one circular, a person can find a schedule of basically all the bands playing on any given day during the month and at which venues they are playing, AND what drink specials can be found at various hangouts. Yeah, there are articles on bands and upcoming events too, but those are pretty much just filler.

This Web site is a good reference point for links to almost everything tattoo. The downside is that many of the links shown actually paid for the exposure, so it’s not a very objective site, but it also has pages for a tattoo gallery, articles, buying equipment, a convention calendar and a yellow pages for tattoo parlors. Users can also download designs and search for studios A-Z or by location.

You’d be surprised at how many celebs have tattoos. We’re not just talking Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera and 50 Cent, people, we’re talking Jessica Alba, Kelly Clarkson, Mandy Moore and Tim McGraw, among many others. Click here to see an alphabetized list with links to pics.
