eBay Wii Sales Double That of PLAYSTATION3
Though the Wii has been on the open market for a couple less days than it’s vastly more expensive PLAYSTATION3 counterpart.
According to a Yahoo news article…
Popular items on eBay included Sony’s PlayStation 3 — 14,675 have been sold on eBay for an average price of $1,186.39 from November 17 to November 24 — and the Nintendo Wii. Since that product debuted on November 19, 26,708 have been sold for an average price of $412.53.
It is theorized that this is solely due to there being more units on eBay to go around considering there were more than double the amount of Wii at initial launch than there were PS3s.
I’ll guess that it is simply because the Wii is more entertaining than the PS3. While I have seen PS3 pads for sale in various locations online and in person, even Nintendo of America’s online store is having trouble keeping up with the amount of orders they are receiving for controls, analog nunchuck attachments, and component cables. And I have yet to see since launch day (and they were even in short supply then, not even enough for an extra control/nunchuck per system released at Wal-Mart or EB) any of these things available for the Wii.
Perhaps the analysts who said the Wii will be another flop of a console like that of the Gamecube should rework their numbers. The more people I have try my system out, the more people I hear telling me they should buy one for themselves.
While my roommate’s PS3 humbly sits in it’s sleep mode next to my Wii, people that see it in action explain the graphics are clearer and that the system has some viable potential in a couple years when a list of games people would actually want to play have been released for it.
My Wii is carted to all kinds of locations and played by people I wouldn’t expect to ever play a video game system.
