My long awaited second Wii game purchase is almost at hand, and it’s cheaper than most new titles released by being at only $39.99 MSRP. And it is not only one game, but a collection of seven of the finest 2d Action-Shooting-Platforms made popular by the Contra series on the NES.
All of the Metal Slug games SNK has released in arcades are on this package, including one that has never hit America until this release, Metal Slug 6. The compilation includes Metal Slug 1, 2, X (a 1-2 hybrid that came out before 3), 3, 4, 5 and 6.
Sure, most of these games have come to America’s shores before, but not in such an affordable and easily found package. Even now Metal Slug 4 & 5 compilations for XBOX/PS2 retail for $19.99 ~ $29.99. Hand-held versions of Metal Slug on the GBA retail for similar amounts of money and only include one title each. And yet the whole 7 game compilation is being released for the Wii December 6.
Originally scheduled for launch, pushed back a week and now this time for one week more. It will be a great day for Metal Slug fans, now if only I wasn’t so busy so I could enjoy it more too.

Although I am not going to post the video itself from YouTube (considering the ramifications associated with posting embedded video on our sites), I will however post a link to the video clip.
Colbert said that he hasn’t been able to tear himself away from his Wii due to the Mii creation system and use of Miis in Wii Sports, most specifically Boxing.
He created a virtual avatar of himself, and also one of Nancy Pelosi. He then showed a small montage of game footage showing his Mii beating her Mii senseless in a Boxing match.
All hilarity aside, Comedy Central has had a lot of airtime devoted to Nintendo’s new gaming machine. From “Thanksgiving Wiikend” celebration, where a Wii was given away per hour for a few days, to having 2-part episode of South Park centralized on the Cartman’s lust for a Wii.
What does this say for the PLAYSTATION3 (that is the official names, all caps. No, I didn’t make that up)? Not a lot. The most press Sony can muster for its system is news reports of people getting beaten up, stabbed, shot or otherwise maimed for standing in line on launch day for their chance to get a system that doesn’t have any must-have titles (can be argued that Resistance: Fall of Man is a must-have but I can’t see it as anything other than another alien-filled FPS with the same controls we have been using since GoldenEye for the N64 (or Halo if you want a slightly more modern representation using 2 analog sticks rather than the 4 C-buttons of the N64 pad.))

In honor of those who have suffered some malady (whether that be a broken wrist-strap, television, window, or hand-to-light fixture lacerations, people have documented their problems with the Wii in this simple to remember Web Site.
Wiihaveaproblem.com has been up and running and hopefully the people with legitimate problems get them answered by Nintendo, but in the mean time sharing their story with other gamers or curious web crawlers. Other issues are discussed but the main theme is that people want answers to their problems, and more specifically compensation.

Boasting 5 player Bomberman is unique to the TurboGrafx16, or at until it hit on the Wii’s Virtual console. First to use the power-up “kick”, this iteration of the series was one most players may have missed out of.
It has 48 single player stages with bosses at the end of each of the worlds. It has a 3-slot save system to track progress so you don’t have to repeat the stages when you have already beat them, but the real grab to this game is it’s multi-player capability.
It may not have microphone-induced explosions like its DS counterpart or 3d graphics like more recent console versions, but it does have a solid play control and enjoyability that most have come to expect from the series. It’s nothing new to the series, as it was originally released in 1992 (according to the Virtual Console page, though the copyright in-game states 1993), but it allows Wii owners to go on head-to-head-to-head-to-head-to-head explosive action for hours of senseless entertainment.
All in all, it seems to be worth the 600 Wii Points ($6), and I’m proud to say it gets a B (being a TurboGrafx16 game, it’s hard to love it..but being on a Nintendo system helps)

While the X360 has been out for a little more a year, the two big talking subjects of gamers today is who had the better launch two weeks ago and who stands to have the better system overall.

Trauma Center: Second Opinion is a a remake of the Nintendo DS title Trauma Center: Under the Knife. It is a thorough remake, except that uses the the Wii Remote and it’s nunchuck attachment to allow for easier and more unique gameplay.

When it comes to party games, Nintendo Systems have some of the most bizarre implementations from Mario Party and Warioware games to Rayman Raving Rabbids and Super Monkey Ball.
Having never played any of the other games in the Monkey Ball series, I was given the idea to check out the system by some of my classmates. I can’t say how different it is from the other Monkey Ball games other than the fact that the Wii’s motion sensing control was used in a large variety of ways, though several were repeats of Wii sports, only with more monkeys everywhere and less tight controls.

Though the Wii has been on the open market for a couple less days than it’s vastly more expensive PLAYSTATION3 counterpart.
According to a Yahoo news article…
Popular items on eBay included Sony’s PlayStation 3 — 14,675 have been sold on eBay for an average price of $1,186.39 from November 17 to November 24 — and the Nintendo Wii. Since that product debuted on November 19, 26,708 have been sold for an average price of $412.53.
It is theorized that this is solely due to there being more units on eBay to go around considering there were more than double the amount of Wii at initial launch than there were PS3s.

The last of my five part series is actually my favorite one as well. Bowling takes the sport of bowling to new heights by allowing players to simulate their bowling throws with pretty decent accuracy.

Boxing is by far the most athletic game in the five game compilation of Wii Sports. It is also the only game to use the included-in-box nunchuck attachment to simulate control over both hands of the boxer.
