Wii Sports: Golf Review
November 26th, 2006In an extremely simplified form, Wii Sports covers the game that most consider a complicated sport, golf. Golf makes driving easy to understand, yet putting is a bit strange feeling.

My second review of the five part series that is Wii Sports is also my least liked. Perhaps because I was never all that good at baseball as a child, but I would rather blame it on the fact that it feels less polished to me than the other four.
The first of a 5 part series highlighting the game that ships with the Wii System, Wii Sports! This will be a mini-review of the First option on the list, as well as my second favorite overall game in the collection, Tennis.
On Sunday, the United States was host to the release of Nintendo’s next console system, the Wii. With it’s unique remote control that senses the motion behind it and the graphics of 2 Gamecubes with the power intake less than two thirds of a single Gamecube, it is not as easily compared to it’s beefier, bulkier brothers, the PS3 and X360.
Today at around 1pm, our local Electronics Boutique was host to one of Nintendo’s official representatives that distributed 2 remote controls as well as the vital Wii Start-up disk, that allows the Wii to access anything. The remotes allowed the manager and employees to load up the initial Wii Channels, but not allow them to access the Weather, News, or online shop channels, which will most likely gain support when the system is formally released this Sunday.
The game, which has been in GameStop/EB stores nationwide was the retail version of Excite Truck. I suggest nonbelievers of the system go and play around, either on versus or on their own. Though strict rules have been scrawled by the manager and taped to the Wii kiosk explaining the various stipulations one must go through before being able to strap your wrist onto the Wii remote.
1. Relinquish either your drivers license or a major credit card. (this rule is set-up so that if someone was to try and run off with the remote, break it, or otherwise compromise the playability of the system, they will be charged for the damages that may entail)
2. If you are holding the remote, your hand should have the wrist-strap (included with every remote) wrapped around your hand to avoid accidental throwing of the control.
3. Do not hand the control to anyone else around you unless told to do so by an employee (because they haven’t given their ID or CC, allowing them not to be held liable for said destruction/disappearance of the remote)
4. We reserve the right to turn off the system at any time if these rules are not followed.
After reading and heeding the rules, I strapped myself in for an hour of entertainment, which turned out to be about half frustration and learning followed by blissful entertainment that made me not want to give the remote back..which is most likely why they took my license in the first place.
Upon questioning the employee about games and/or accessories to the system that had launched before the system, he stated only Spongebob Squarepants and Trauma Center: Second Opinion were available today. Pictures of the local EB setup and a more in depth Hands-on of Excite Truck will be coming soon.
IGN Wii originally changed the release of the next installment of their Wii Launch Guide they are compiling from November 7 to Nov 8 late Tuesday night. Even though today is the ninth, the page has yet to be updated or changed in any way.
Why they have been slow with their updates I have no idea, considering they are updating other parts of their page and posting new articles throughout the last two days.
One major Wii announcement that has come out as of recent has been the updating of more Virtual Console games that are on the schedule for release. And with the announcement I will make an attempt at an explanation of what Nintendo Wii’s virtual console will curtail. Read the rest of this entry »
We were told to edit a pre-existing video that the teacher had made a couple weeks ago. This was my result. I originally created the idea on Halloween, and thus the blood(ish) red title that sweeps across the beginning. Here was my results, it’s comical and yet strangely creepy. Floating skulls are always creepy.

Yesterday night, Comedy Central debuted its new episode of South Park for the week, thats main advertised topic was the former Mr. (now Miss) Garrison disruptively disagreeing with teaching evolution to the children of South Park.
Much to my surprise, the episode begins with Cartman standing outside of a “EV Games” desperately waiting for the release of the Nintendo Wii. Throughout the episode, Cartman yearns to play the Wii, which will be released in three weeks. In a poorly thought out plan, Cartman decides to freeze himself to make the wait seem instantaneous, but ends up being frozen for over 500 years. During this time, the world decides to abandon religion in favor of scientific knowledge in an attempt to stop world war. Read the rest of this entry »
Upon the advent of the release of Nintendo’s and Sony’s latest portable systems (Sony’s first, Nintendo’s 5th generation counting their first, which would be Game & Watch systems), many people speculated that Sony would have the upper hand due to the enhanced graphical power (the power of the PlayStation2 in comparison to the N64), superior non-gaming applications built-in abilities (checking the internet is built-in to the PlayStation Portable), and “superior data storage” found within the UMD (Universal Media Disc) capable of holding almost 2GB of data instead of Nintendo’s relatively smaller (in both data storage and in physical dimensions). Some even said that the PSP would crush Nintendo’s handheld and would cause them to even pull out of the portable market for a time. And to all of the people who stated these opinions, This makes me recall the Simpson’s character Nelson Muntz exclaiming “HA HA”.
According to various sources, EB/GameStop retailers should be getting Wii kiosks “very soon”. This not only means that I will finally be able to give a little more depth to the site by giving Hands-on first-hand (both hands) impressions. This news came midday by GameSpot forum poster Yoshi_64. While at EB, a package from UPS arrived and lo and behold it contained various Wii display goods. The manager said that they expect to see the Wii kiosk by the end of the week, or by next week. (in their store, at least)
