Trauma Center: Second Opinion Review

Trauma Center: Second Opinion is a a remake of the Nintendo DS title Trauma Center: Under the Knife. It is a thorough remake, except that uses the the Wii Remote and it’s nunchuck attachment to allow for easier and more unique gameplay.

Trauma Center: Second Opinion takes the medical drama show and blends it with anime flair and stylistic controls. The player takes control of the life of Derik Styles, a doctor who just recently earned his residency and must rise through the ranks to earn a spot in medical history.

The action in the game is primarily controlled by the Control itself, leaving the analog attachment to choose which tool you should be using at any given time. Although there are times, like when using the defibrillator, that both controls are used to shock a patient.

In addition to remake of Under the Knife, Second Opinion also has a side-story with extra missions not included in the original game. So for those who have already played Under the Knife, there is something to look forward to other than impressing people with your foreknowledge of the plot.

I give Trauma Center a A- because other than the obvious face lift and a few extra operations, it is largely the same experience, not to say that experience is a bad one though. To all those who haven’t played Under the Knife, and those willing to do it again on a television rather than a portable, I strongly recommend giving it a look.
