Yes, you will need some help…

Tuesday, November 28th, 2006

I’m sure you’ve noticed that any wedding can take months to plan! If you need help planning your dream wedding or you want to help a friend/ relative plan their big day…you will definitely want to purchase two of my favorite wedding books:

“I Do: Achieving Your Dream Wedding” by Jessica Simpson
Jessica’s marriage may have ended in divorce, but her book is full of helpful tips for any wedding. Jessica actually interviewed several members on her wedding planning team, including her famous wedding planner, Mindy Weiss, and stylist, Jessica Paster.

“The Knot Ultimate Wedding Planner: Worksheets, Checklists, Etiquette, Calendars, and Answers to Frequently Asked Questions” - by: Carley Roney

I’ve stated over and over that THE KNOT is my favorite Wedding Web site. This is a great book that will guide you through the entire wedding process.

The Top 10 Wedding Trends for 2006

Tuesday, November 21st, 2006

10 trends from THE KNOT:

1) Diamond or Rhinestone Hair Accessories

In 2005, we saw celebrity brides forgo the traditional tiara by pinning diamond bracelets and earrings into their hair. All brides can easily adopt this trend in a simple and elegant way.

2) Color in Unexpected Places

The trend of having colored trim on a wedding dress will continue, but brides will find new ways of incorporating color into their look. Perhaps it will be the blue or bright red bottoms of their shoes, or a colored crinoline underskirt.

3) Fur and Faux Fur

The ready-to-wear look of fur and faux-fur capelets will make its way to the wedding world with brides adding fur shrugs, or fur trim to their dresses.

4) Personal and Whimsical Touches

We live in an increasingly personalized world, and weddings are no exceptions to this trend. This trend can be found. in everything from your grandmother’s best recipe as part of your menu, to names and places being used instead of numbers on the table assignments.

5) Metallic Embroidery and Fabrics

Metallics have been trendy in fashion recently, as has embroidery and embellishment. In 2006, the two trends will come together with metallic threads being woven into wedding dresses or used in elaborate and simple embroideries.

6) Hot Colors

The two hottest wedding colors will be chocolate brown and a rich orange, although usually not together. Chocolate brown is often paired with pastel colors such as blue, pink or sometimes, though rarely, a celadon green. Rich orange is also a popular choice.

7) Small Plates or Tapas

Give your guests a taste of a wide variety of food by offering them Spanish tapas. Particularly if you are looking to have a sophisticated evening wedding, or you don’t quite have room to have a sit-down dinner, this is a useful trend.

8) Disposable Video Cameras

You can give your guests a $30 disposable video camera from CVS to remember the occasion.

9) Wedding Logos

You can include the bride and groom names on almost everything now. You can create your own wedding logo and put it on the wedding favors and even the rehearsal dinner napkins.

10) Donations to Charity and Doing Good Through Your Wedding

From tsunamis to hurricanes to earthquakes, the world has been hit hard. People are donating to these causes, arts groups and other charities are seeing deep decreases in donations that they count on. So it’s understandable that people want to use their weddings to give back.

Give a gift to your groom!

Tuesday, November 21st, 2006

I think it’s a sweet idea to swap gifts with your groom the night before your wedding. Here are a few ideas that I like:

1. An engraved money clip
2. A monogrammed robe
3. Love knot cuff links
4. A picture frame with 2 slots (include a picture of the two of you when you first met and a wedding picture)
5. Portable DVD player
