Austin’s Bars, Bands, and Bats

bands Besides the largest university in the country, Austin is known for hosting a ton of live bands around the city throughout the year. Whatever the season you decide to visit the city, you can find a band playing somewhere. The types of groups range from underground local bands to world popular bands, and from country bands to rap artists. The biggest live concert Austin holds is the Austin City Limits . This is conducted during the fall every year. They have presented artists and bands like Dixie Chicks, The Killers, Ben Folds, Los Lonely Boys, James Blunt, etc. If you are lucky enough to be in the city during Austin City Limits, do not miss this experience of a lifetime!

bats Another site to see in Austin is the traveling bats under Congress Bridge . At dusk during mid-summer, one and a half million bats fly out from under the Congress Bridge. It is probably one of the most interesting things I’ve ever witnessed, and I’m terrified of bats!

Last but definitely not least, if you’re of age, you can’t miss the nightlife in Austin. From ten o’clock at night until sunrise, Austin has a party stretching over several streets and blocks. It used to just be 6th Street , but now 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 7th streets are some of the most popular places for bar hopping. I advise you to go to the Chuggin’ Monkey, Fado Irish Bar, Sky Bar, and the Aquarium. These were by far the most popular among the young adults. Austin’s constantly growing with new fun adventures, so don’t miss out!
