Deep in the Heart of Texas

citypic Since I was born and raised in the state of Texas, I have visited this southern city quite a few times. I consider Austin, Texas one of the most diverse, liberal cities in the country. Whatever you are looking for, Austin has it. But, if you’re not the type of person that is a fan of “extreme” cultures, like rainbow Mohawks, naked cowboys, or Elvis impersonators, then I don’t suggest you visit Austin.

Even if you’re a huge OSU or OU fan, I still think you should go to a University of Texas football game . It doesn’t even matter if you boo the Longhorns the entire game, I still think if you’re in Austin, you will not want to miss this event. The National Champions were amazing football players in 2005, but I believe they owe some credit to the massive amount of supportive fans.

Austin is a big supporter of small businesses. Therefore, there are literally hundreds of small shops and restaurants all over the city. I’m sure all of you have heard of 6th Street, which is jam-packed with all different types bars and nightclubs, but I suggest you go to 6th Street during the day as well. While all the bars are closed and getting ready for the crazy night ahead, 6th Street and the surrounding streets are full of small shops containing everything you can imagine. You couldn’t leave Austin without a souvenir if you tried.
