Membership Benefits

Leadership Opportunities
The OSU PRSSA offers a variety of ways for students to develop leadership skills. The PRSSA executive team is composed of seven PRSSA members who plan and manage all meetings, as well as coordinate events with sponsoring PRSA chapters. Each of the three PRSSA committees has a chairperson who directs committee efforts and manages the committee budget. Student leaders are elected by the chapter adviser, the out-going president and three members selected by PRSSA to serve on the election board.

Public Relations Communications
OSU PRSSA members stay connected to the public relations industry through free, national communication materials:

  • PRSSA Talk - This mailing list engages members in discussions via e-mail about the PR profession and PRSSA’s many programs.
  • Bi-Weekly Updates - News updates are released to the entire membership via e-mail, informing members of PRSA events and PRSSA news highlights.
  • FORUM - The PRSSA national newspaper, which contains society news and tips on the public relations industry, writing, job hunting and other relevant topics, is distributed to each PRSSA member three times a year. Any PRSSA member can write articles for the paper, allowing students to build their portfolios with nationally published work.

Awards and Scholarships
Each year, PRSSA and its sponsors give away more than $20,000 in national scholarship and award competitions. Additionally, Oklahoma PRSA chapters in Oklahoma City and Tulsa offer scholarships to Oklahoma public relations students. For information on national scholarships, visit PRSSA’s award Web site .
