Loch Ness

Loch Ness Loch Ness area was beautiful. We didn’t even realize we’d hit it until probably 10 minutes after driving around it. We had been looking for it but thought we had gotten lost so it wasn’t until we looked on the map did we realize we were already there. The castle (or what’s left of it) to the right was a neat place to explore and the country side there was beautiful. Unfortunately, we didn’t take the official tour but I hear it’s worth the money. Looking back I would probably opt to do some of those official tours because you get so much more with someone who has intimate knowledge of the place.

The Stags Head Bar

Stags Head was definitely off the beaten path (as we found it while trying to get un-lost outside a suburb of Aberdeen) but it was certainly worth the visit. Quiet and friendly, the staff was always handy when our glasses were empty. Prices were reasonable and the menu selection was more than we expected from a small pub. I recommend the seafood chowder for a lunch time treat. The seafood chowder and a pint of Guinness is hard to beat when you’re looking to get recharged after an afternoon of sightseeing.

Inverney Hotel

Inverness Hotel Inverney Hotel

This was the first hotel we stayed in during our visit to Scotland. We just kind of wondered through the country side sightseeing planning to find a place to stay and this looked the best. It was very clean and the restaurant pub was nice. The food was good and the service good as well. Price was reasonable and facilities were clean. I’d recommend it if you’re in the area. About a half hour north from Loch Ness.
