Copa Independencia De Slalom
Sao Paulo, Brazil was the host of a longboarding slalom contest. More than 50 people from different skill levels showed up to compete for cash, trophies and bragging rights. The contest consisted of riders weaving in and out of 50 cones at more than 15 miles per hour. In the end no one could beat Kako Max’s 37.6 second ride. Max is notorious around Brazil for being a fast skater. Just two months prior to the Copa Independencia De Slalom contest, Max won another competition in Sao Paulo. Among the ladies, Christie Aleixo won her first ever slalom contest finishing the race in an even 48-seconds. The race was one of four skateboarding events the town hosted that day. There was a street best trick contest, a freestyle demo and a vert’ demo.
