Old school boards

Skateboards have come a long way since their popularity boomed in the late 60s. Earlier versions of longboards had their trucks and wheels tucked tight beneath the deck. It was hard to get the smooth ride that todays longboards are capable of producing. The early wheels were harshly strewn together. Plastic wheels were originally used, but were later replaced in 1973 by urethane wheels. The urethane wheel sparked the explosion of skateboarding. Old school decks were very thick and heavy and difficult to maneuver. Boards have changed for the better in shape, size, weight and material during the past 30 years.
