Mel Blanc
“The Man of 1,000 voices”
For many people, Mel Blanc is the most famous voice actor ever to lend his talents to animation. He voiced many of the old Looney Tunes such as Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Daffy Duck, Sylvester the cat, Tweety among numerous other cartoon characters for many different shows. He also voiced Woody Woodpecker for the cartoon of the same name.
Blanc believed that the character Bugs Bunny was responsible for saving his life when he was in a coma after a car crash. When all attempts to get Blanc to respond to questions and music failed, his doctor said “How are you doing Bugs Bunny?” to which Blanc responded and eventually awoke from his coma.
Mel Blanc has two stars on the Hollywood walk of fame. One as Mel Blanc and the other as Bugs Bunny. He is one of two people to have two stars. The other person to have such an honor is Jim Henson/Kermit the Frog.
