Arts and Sciences Student Council has once again named Advertising Club the Outstanding Club of the Year! The award is based off of 4 areas including: purpose of club, club membership, activities/meetings and greatest achievement of the year. With AdClub being the only on-campus club to offer a Foundation scholarship we were a head above the other applicants! Congratulations members because we could not have done it without you!
To receive AdClub Member of the Year (AMOY), meeting attendance numbers for non-leaders who have participated the most this semester will be totaled and, if the AdClub Member of the Fall Semester is one of them, generally this person will be chosen for AMOY.
For Faculty Member of the Year (FMOY), ballots will be distributed through some Journalism classes, Advertising Club Executive Board will tally them to see which faculty member received the most votes. In the six years AdClub has presented this award, Professors Noble and Sowell have won all but one year.
Both awards will be announced at the AdClub officer elections on April 6. Good luck!
2007-2008 ended with a record 164 members! That number puts OSU AdClub in the running for national membership awards with American Advertising Federation. That number also reverses a declining trend over the last two years with memberships of 147 and 136 respectively. So great job executive team, especially our Vice President of Membership, Lindsey Mosteller!
For the first time ever, OSU will offer JB 3263–Reporting (June/July) and JB 3283–PR Communication Methods (June) during the summer here in Stillwater. In addition, JB 3603–Advertising Copywriting will be available this summer at the OSU-Tulsa Campus (June/July). This is a great class for anyone who has completed JB 2003 and JB 2013–Principles of Advertising and plans to be in Tulsa during the summer. It will be taught by Ken Graham.
OSU will also offer JB 1143 via internet, JB 2843-Sports in the Media (June), JB 4163-Media Law (July) and JB 4243-Programs and Audiences (June).

Enrollment begins Wednesday, March 5 and continues for the next few weeks. If you do not yet know your enrollment date, check your SIS account. Your enrollment date is based on the number of hours that you have already completed. Spring 2008 hours do not count.
As usual, advisors generally see students in order of their enrollment dates, so please schedule a time to see me 1-3 days before your enrollment date. If you schedule an appointment too far in advance, advisors may cancel it in order to first meet with those who enroll before you.
Everyone should make their appointments immediately even if you are scheduling as far out as early April! Don’t forget Spring Break is March 17-21 so don’t accidentally schedule then if you plan to be out of town.
If you need to drop a Spring 2008 class, you do not necessarily need an appointment. Fill out a drop card in the waiting area. Then put your completed drop card on your advisor’s door clip so that she will know you are waiting. Advisors will then typically try to work you in between appointments. Do not leave the drop card with an advisor without waiting for a signature!
There is an Association for Women in Communications meeting this Wednesday at 5:30 in JB 101 with free smoothies!
Sara Lorenzen, who is the communication coordinator for the Oklahoma Society of CPA’s, will be our guest speaker. She got her BA in Public Relations from UCO in 2006. Also, Janna Norman from Devon will be at the meeting. She is our liaison to the OKC AWC.

If you’re interested in running for an AWC officer position, their officer elections will be at their last meeting which will take place on Wednesday, April 2 at 5:30 in JB 101. Please consider running for an office!

AdClub reached its goal of 160 members! This is the second time in the history of OSU AdClub that we have reached that goal! The record membership number is within reach with only 14 members to go! Good job AdClubbers!
University Advertising (commonly known as UA) is a branch of Advertising Club. It is a student-run agency made up of account executives and creatives where they can get agency experience with real clients. This semester the agency finalized a logo for former NFL football star R.W. McQuarters. McQuarters is starting a real estate company in Tulsa called The Roblan Company. Great job team!
