Easter Island

Easter Island is also known as “Isla de Pascua” and “Rapa Nui.” Easter Island is over 2,200 miles off the coast of Chile, making it the most isolated inhabited island in the world. The large stone statues that surround the island are called moai and almost all 887 of them were carved out of volcanic rock. The story of how the statues were moved and placed still remains a mystery and archaeologists continue to work to see how the early islanders lived.
