New found appreciation

So, two summers ago I was an intern at the Perry Daily Journal.

I sat far enough away from the radio that I could not hear songs in their entirety. This summer, KT Tunstall became HUGE on adult alternative radio stations like Oklahoma City’s KYIS 98.9.

Well, her first huge hit “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree,” drove me crazy. For about three months, I thought a man sang the song because all I could hear was the chorus of “whoo hoos” throughout the song. It was played about 100 times a day and was quite annoying from my desk.

My roommate owned the CD and said the song was really good. I wouldn’t buy it.

Now, nearly two years later I have a new found appreciation for the song. Tunstall is very talented. I appreciated her so much I added her as a station seed on RHiANNONRADiO. “Cherry Tree” played on Thursday evening while I was working. My first thought was to skip the song, wasting one of my precious six-per-hour skips. I decided to listen to the song instead.

I actually decided I liked the song. After all these years of hate. Kinda bizarre. So, for your enjoyment pleasure “Cherry Tree” and another of my favorite songs by Tunstall:
