The Spy Who Loved Me (1977)
Overall Rank- 6th
This is one of my favorite Bond films, and is another one that I have seen many times. This is my second favorite film with Roger Moore portraying Bond. I am not entirely sure why I liked it so much.
The action in this film was more exciting than it’s predecessor, The Man with the Golden Gun. In that film the most exciting concept was the actual golden gun. The opening sequence in this film contains an amazing ski jump followed by a suspenseful chase on skis. This action sets a great pace for the film.
Anya Amasova (Agent Triple X) is one of the most intriguing Bond girls. Unlike Halle Berry’s annoyingly bad portrayal of Jinx in Die Another Day, Barbara Bach manages to be a tough, yet beautiful Bond girl/sidekick.
Karl Stromberg is one of my favorite Bond villains. Perhaps it is due to his sophisticated and relaxed demeanor. At first look he seems to be a simple old man, but beneath the normal looking exterior lies a truly evil villain. His goal of turning the world into a new Atlantis is also an interesting concept.
I also enjoy the large scale battle within a ship. This is one of the most action packed scenes in a Roger Moore Bond film.
For classic Bond action, gadgets, girls and villains, this film will not disappoint.
